And the beat goes on...

Mom's first mini luncheon. I made a quiche and fruit salad and mom set the table and our picture hanger "Jenny" came over and worked on some of the pictures. But first some nourishment.
Yummy lunch with our bunny napkins.
and the work begins. Yes that would be an app on her iTouch. it's the ilevel which she put to use. You clever girl. I of course got the app right away.
Love this picture.
This is the family wall of black and whites.

We have help coming from everywhere. Our personal shopper found exactly what we were looking for. Thanks Cindy. I know the fruit will be on top, Kitchen towels next and then chips and bread. Now everything has a place reachable to the owner of this darling apartment.
AND best of all, we found a Burger King and got our iced BK mocha coffee.

Final stage of the move.

Looks like a little European Village as we drive into the complex.
Yes I know I look like I was a little topsy turby here.
First night in the apartment. I think my mom was glad to see me go so she could finally get some rest or just do her own thing. She cut the cord and sent me on my way. But I'll be back another day!
I'm already missing the fun times we had but we have tons more to come.

Few more pictures of the last few days.

First of all the walls are not pink. Not sure what the deal is with the lighting and my camera.. But glad you can see the windows and how it's like an apartment with tree house view.
We started to put the pictures in places we wanted them to be...
How cute and homey.. waiting for Jenny to come back to put things up in the kitchen. On top of the cabinets.

Our picture hanger came by and took us out to dinner then back to do some things on the honey do list. Mom decided to replace the round table with her other table that is shorter and fits her better. Just trying it out.
Yes I know Jenny the picture is to high. It will be lowered tomorrow. We have plenty of picture for you to still hang.
This picture is a little deciving. Perhaps the angle I'm taking it. The room is bigger and not as narrow as it seems but wanted you to see the pictures.
The picture hanger. Great job and thanks for dinner.
Tomorrow we will have pictures of the office and bedroom and master bath if we find a shower curtain.
:)

Sneak Peek

Visits from my mom's new neighbor and Janet, Cindy, and Jenny today. My-my mom's a popular girl...
Pink box is filled with baked goods from the Loft. The box says Welcome to Texas Grandma! Thanks Jenny!
This is a sneak peek at part of the living room. No pictures on the wall yet but that will happen when we get all the things in place.

Again no pictures on the wall. But the bedroom turned out just perfect.

Jenny has some great ideas for where to put some of the great pictures my mom has. So stay tuned and see this darling place all come together.
Best part of all this is my mom likes this place better then she thought.

Grandma Dotty meet Samuel

Samuel meet Grandma Dotty..
We made it to SA around 4:45 but didn't go to the apartment until after 8pm. What a surprise and what a wonderful job everyone did to make it look so darling. We are headed there tomorrow to start on the office and get it ready for mom to move in.

Japlin to Dallas

I did the pictures backwards so just enjoy it in reverse.
This is our last night of hotels so we decided to have room service. One Cobb Salad-split, One bowl of soup-shared, and bread/butter and water and what we thought would have been the best part, the Double Tree Inn fresh baked cookies. The soup and salad were wonderful. The cookies tasted like half baked cookies so believe it or not they sit on the desk now as I'm blogging. :(
Seriously mom, you are such a fun traveling granny. We have made some memories if we can remember them. :)
My mom brought a small cassett player with some old cassett's from some 40 years ago.As we drove through OK we listened to part of my first wedding, my mom and dad on a vacation, etc. We couldn't really hear to well but laughed at the ones we could but will for sure listen to them another time.
On the way to Dallas we stopped at Chili's and had lunch and a shot of chocolate. :)
This is leaving Japlin MO. I loaded this up each night and each morning. We had to take it all out of the car. The trunk is full so we would empty the back seat for safety reasons. It was worth it now that we only have one more round to go.

The Traveling Grannies

Had to skip the ride up the Arch, "Gateway to the West". So we drove by and I quickly took a picture of it with my mom looking on.
Famous Court House in St. Louis
(I may come back and add some history to these pictures.) Just to tired and heading to bed for a good night sleep.
I have no idea what happened to this picture but this is a friend of my moms that drove a long way to have lunch with us just outside of St. Louis. Thanks Judy. What a wonderful place to eat and so good to visit with you and hoping we see you in SA.
I wish you all could see how truly happy my mom's look is in this picture. We are having a good time AND this is also "move in day" back in SA so our worker bees have been so wonderful unpacking my moms stuff to make her apartment look as much at home and cozy as the one she left. What a relief to her knowing the living room, bedroom, and dining room are all put together.AND IT ALL FIT, Barry.  She is overwhelmed with such kindness and I also thank everyone that has helped with this move and helped make my mom feel so welcome to her new home. We are both so excited for Thursday when we get home.
We will leave Japlin MO hopfully earlier then we left St.Louis which was 2:50pm. We have a long drive but it's all new to me so I'm looking forward to the drive. Hoping to stop at some interesting places. Or one at least. Have to say this trip has turned out to be mostly a people trip and not a tour trip. Which is just fine with us as that has turned out to be a much rewarding time seeing old friends and family. A trip we'll  never forget so far.

Day 2 and Day 3

Loved this hotel. Wanted to stay for a week.

Silly Sally and Rick met us for breakfast at Bob Evans. All I can say is Yummy!!! Thanks Sally and Rick.Love that girl Sally, always a smile on her face and something funny to say to put a smile on your face. Great time!
Yes, that dish would be rasberry crapes.
Friends of my mom from Naperville. Thanks Kay and Carol. Enjoyed the evening. Best hamburger I've had in a long time, and free night in a nursing home. Hey can't go wrong there.

Next we headed to Springfield to see Abe Lincoln and he wasn't home but look who was...
Aunt Dot and Chris and Brynn.and sweet Natasha.
Kate, Brynn, and mom. Great meeting you Kate and looking forward to more visits.SA and Tulsa. And what is so funny Brynn??
Yea the kid on the right is TX bound and the two on the left are CO or bust. So how far did you make it too on tuesday? Mom and I made it to St. Louis, MO. :)
Ooops sorry Brynn. out of focus. Thanks for the fun visit and we'll be back to see Abe soon.
NOW how did these warm fresh baked ch. chip cookies get in our hotel room??? And a glass of milk.Could life ever get any better?
And now you know about where we are. Tomorrow we'll go up in the arch and blog the pictures and story about our day in St. Louis... then we'll be "on the road again".

And we are off...

Last picture as we were getting ready to leave. Thanks for Jeanie stopping by we got a family  picture in the old homestead. As I was growing up we used to have our Christmas card pictures taken right here in this same spot. How fun that we got to have this taken without even realizing it at the time. No side by side shots as we were much younger and holding our ski's. But just might be a fun blog post. :)
Left home at 6:30pm and drove in misty rain 4 hours to...
We are feeling like queens after the tons of boxes and broken down (to wrap and pack) furniture and the lamps all packed except for one in each room for two days.
Mom looked up at me and said, I'm a woman without a home with a smile on her face.
OK so my mom got a hold of the camera. What can I say I love my computer, FB, and notice the iPhone which now has the 3G on it aand hot chocolate. This is a great start to our journey.
PS posting this in morning after above pictures. It's going to be a wonderful day today.... O just looked out the window and it's raining. But we need rain for our beautiful spring flowers right? Think about spring and what it represents..
Get ready TX we are headed your way.
